Former NYPD Commisioner Bernie Kerik will be back in court this afternoon where federal prosecutors are expected to lay out their reasons why they think Judge Stephen C. Robinson should conduct a hearing to determine if Kerik’s lawyers Barry Berke and Eric Tirschwell are barred by potential conflicts from representing Kerik.
It’s deja vu all over [...]

Judge Stephen C. Robinson said today that, contrary to a few media reports, he was not “angry” during last week’s hearing where he ordered former NYPD Commissioner Bernie Kerik jailed for slipping confidential court docs to a New Jersey lawyer who used them to formulate an email sent to but never printed in the Washington [...]

Former NYPD commish Bernie Kerik has, for the most part, ignored the coterie of reporters who have attended his appearances in federal court in White Plains. Queries are met with a polite “no comment” and the same non-plussed look that Kerik has carried since his first appearance on Nov. 9, 2007, after he was indicted [...]

…is not Reggie Hammond.
It’s Preet Bharara.
Bharara, 40, has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate as the next U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, the highest-profile and (many would say) most important federal district in the nation.
Bharara has been chief counsel to U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer on the Senate Judiciary Committee for the [...]

No doubt some of the most interesting people to jaw with over at the Brieant Courthouse are the court security officers led by Tommy Delahanty. They’re veterans of the NYPD, Yonkers and White Plains police departments, among others, who have done more than their 20 and put in their papers. They’ve seen it all, in [...]

So there’s Jack Garcia sitting at home watching the Tony Awards when Liza Minnelli’s win for special theatrical event is announced. She hops up onstage to accept the award accompanied by her choreographer and – this is where Garcia about falls off the couch – her manager Gary Labriola.
See, Garcia is former FBI Agent Joaquin [...]

It’s likely that the big issue as the case of the so-called Newburgh Four goes forward will be: What was the engine for the alleged plot? Was it self-propelled, as in, the four accused Muslim converts acted on their own with the FBI’s informant merely the investigators’ eyes and ears into the plot to blow [...]

If Judge Kenneth Karas’ comments during the sentencing of Sam Israel’s ex-girlfriend Deb Ryan yesterday were any indication, the convicted fraudster turned fugitive is not going to find a smiling face waiting for him on the bench when he steps into Courtroom 521 at the Brieant Courthouse next month.
Karas decided against sending Ryan to jail [...]
